Apple is reportedly venturing into a new product category with the development of a tabletop robot, as detailed in a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This innovative device is expected to feature a large display similar to an iPad and a robotic arm capable of 360-degree movement.

If the project proceeds as planned, the tabletop robot could be released as early as 2026 or 2027, with an anticipated price tag of around $1,000. This pricing is considerably lower than the most recent iPad models, which cost more than $3,000 with accessories.

He also noted that a “robotic limb” seems outside Apple’s core competencies. Kerwin suggested that Apple might succeed more with a less complex device, similar to Amazon’s Echo, particularly with integrating its forthcoming AI offering, Apple Intelligence.

Despite the uncertainty, Apple’s history of setting industry trends rather than following them could give this project a unique edge. However, as Kerwin emphasized, any new product would need to prove its worth against the iPhone, which continues to be Apple’s largest revenue driver.
