“The front power seat motor may overheat due to a stuck power seat slide knob, which can result in a fire while parked or driving,” the NHTSA stated in its announcement.

Remedial Actions

To address this issue, Kia dealers will install a bracket for the power seat switch back covers and replace the seat slide knobs at no cost to the vehicle owners.

This proactive measure aims to ensure the safety and reliability of the affected Telluride models, mitigating the potential fire hazard associated with the power seat motor overheating.
