Goose Island Beer Co. of Chicago revealed this year’s highly-anticipated annual Bourbon County Stout variants.

Goose Island, credited with pioneering the barrel-aged stout beer style, has announced the 2024 Bourbon County Stout variants.

Available nationally on Black Friday, November 29, 2024, this year’s lineup includes the original stout and three exciting new variants. Each offers unique flavors and aging processes, showcasing the brewery’s expertise and innovation.

2024 Bourbon County Brand Original Stout

ABV: 14.7%

The classic beer that started the barrel-aged stout trend, the 2024 Bourbon County Brand Original Stout, boasts an impressive 14.7% ABV. Aged for an average of 16 months in a mix of bourbon barrels from Buffalo Trace, Heaven Hill, Four Roses, and Wild Turkey, this stout delivers a rich, complex profile. Expect deep notes of chocolate, vanilla, and oak, complemented by the warm finish of bourbon.

2024 Bourbon County Brand Vanilla Rye Stout

Making a comeback after six years, the 2024 edition of Bourbon County Brand Vanilla Rye Stout offers a new twist. This variant begins with a rye imperial stout, aged for a full year in rye whiskey barrels, and is then finished with Madagascar vanilla beans. The result is a creamy, spicy stout with pronounced vanilla notes and a rye whiskey kick.

2024 Bourbon County Brand Macaroon Stout

A new addition to the Bourbon County lineup, the 2024 Bourbon County Brand Macaroon Stout is an imperial stout aged for a year in bourbon barrels.

This variant is then enhanced with cocoa nibs, sweet candied ginger, and toasted coconut. It promises a dessert-like experience, combining rich chocolate flavors with the sweetness and texture of coconut and ginger.

2024 Bourbon County Brand Bardstown Cask Finish Stout

The 2024 Bourbon County Brand Bardstown Cask Finish Stout is a collaboration with Bardstown Bourbon Company.

Goose Island’s imperial stout is initially aged in Bardstown’s straight rye whiskey barrels before being transferred to hybrid oak and cherry wood barrels for finishing. This unique process imparts a distinctive flavor profile.
