Chinese tech giant Tencent Holdings has announced the upcoming release of “Dungeon and Fighter: Origin,” a highly anticipated mobile game developed by Korean firm Nexon. 

After seven years of development, the action game will launch on May 21, marking a significant milestone for Tencent and fans of the famous “Dungeon and Fighter” franchise.

Background and Development:

“Dungeon and Fighter: Origin” is a mobile adaptation of the immensely successful “Dungeon and Fighter” computer game, known for its profitability and widespread popularity worldwide. 

Developed by Nexon, the mobile version has undergone extensive development, with its release in South Korea in 2022 garnering immediate acclaim. However, regulatory challenges delayed its launch in China following government crackdowns on the gaming industry.

Market Impact and Expectations:

The announcement of the game’s release has already positively affected Tencent’s stock, with shares rising approximately 4.5% on Monday morning. 

Analysts from investment banks like Jefferies and HSBC anticipate significant revenue potential for “Dungeon and Fighter: Origin” in the Chinese market. They project it to secure a top position in revenue rankings and generate substantial annual revenues over time.
