Ather Energy, a well-known electric two-wheeler producer, has announced its foray into the Sri Lankan market.

Ather Energy, a prominent electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has revealed its expansion into the Sri Lankan market. This marks the company’s second international venture following its successful entry into Nepal.

Partnership and Distribution Strategy:

Ather Energy plans to launch its first experience center in Sri Lanka during the upcoming quarter. The company will collaborate with Evolution Auto Pvt Ltd, which will serve as Ather’s national distributor in the country. Evolution Auto is a joint venture between Sensei Capital Partners, Atman Group, and Sino Lanka Private Limited. It will manage both the sales and service operations for Ather in Sri Lanka.

Charging Infrastructure Development:

In addition to sales and service, Ather Energy will focus on establishing a network of fast-charging infrastructure across Sri Lanka. This initiative aligns with the company’s strategy to support the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) by providing the necessary charging facilities.

Previous International Expansion:

Ather made its international debut in Nepal in November last year, where it currently operates three Experience Centres and seven fast-charging grids. The company’s success in Nepal paved the way for further expansion into other international markets.

Market Potential and Future Plans:

Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, highlighted the significance of the Sri Lankan market in the company’s global expansion plans.

“With the increasing cost of ownership of petrol vehicles and the economic and environmental benefits of electric vehicles, the Sri Lankan market has shown an increasing preference for EVs,” he stated.
